Did you know that you can't backup your XBOX 360 games with any old DVD Drive? There are only a handful of drives that are capable of doing it.
There are old DVD drives called "Kreon" where great in 2006 or so, but the drives have dried up, and the software was no longer supported. The DVD drive that is inside a 360 is capable of reading a disc...therefore it is possible to customize the drive with special software (0800 software) and power the drive with a power dongle so it can be used in a PC. The 0800 drive has better software then the Kreon drive, and is capable of ripping more data out then a Kreon drive can.
Backup Your Original XBOX360 Games With Our 0800 (Kreon alternative) Drive.
- Drive needs to be powered from PC (its an xbox DVD drive, so it will not fit inside the dock)
- The brand of the drive will be a samsung/Benq/Liteon. We will flash the drive with the most current firmware there is for 0800 drives.
- This drive DOES NOT burn, it only reads the disc
- Sata interface
Instructions:
- We recommend using Xbox backup creator - link here. Please see the readme file for more info. To rip XGD3 games properly you might have to play a dae.bin file in the same folder as the program.
- Run the application , select your 0800 drive from the drop down menu at the top,
- On the Read tab, make sure 'Complete backup' is selected
- Click Start, and it will ask you where to save the ISO, and to give it a name.
- It's a good idea to run the ISO through ABGX to fix any small mistakes or missing data from the disc (or AP2.5 patches). You can do this very easily with ABGX. Download the latest version here. You will needto be connected to the internet for ABGX to download any missing data.

- Download Imgburn:
http://imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
- Install Imgburn, and search for the image of the game that you just ripped.
- Select the .DVD file instead of the .ISO file
- Insert an DVD+R DL 8.5GB disc in the burner (preferably Verbatim) but any should do. (Remember you must have another burner because this drive is not a burner)
- Then click start burn icon and it should do the job.
Comes with:
- Preflashed 0800 Drive
- Power dongle with Molex cable attached to the back of the drive
You need
- PC (with the ability to open the case)
- Sata cable (most PCs have a couple spare)
