3DS hacking info:
The 3DS is region locked, meaning if you buy the console from the US, you cannot run Australian games on it. This is only for 3DS games and DSi enchanced games. DS/DS lite games are ok.
The 3DS will probably take a long time to be hacked in 3DS mode. The first solutions will only give you access to what the cards could do on the Ds/DS lite. So this means no access to the Sd card, the 3D part of the screen (the top screen will still work, just not in 3D mode), and no camera.
It may take many months or perhaps years for 3DS mode to be unlocked, and might different hardware then what is required for normal flash cards. There are PLENTY 100% free homebrew applications available right now that you can play around with right now. It is funny to see that a 3DS can now play Mp3 audio files, when homebrew enthusiasts could do it on a Ds lite back in 2007!
The 3DS is a software upgradable system. Please be careful when preforming updates (or turn off automatic updates) as Nintendo will probably block the cards from running and the update to counteract that will usually require you to run a program on your flash card.
