- lah1058 -... D2E - Works with this
Remember - OzModchips is not only an official reseller, we are their biggest distributors in the Asia Pacific region. We not only get supply ONLY from the people who make them - we also sell to our competitors. Our relationship with the team is close - we recently helped them with the hacking of D2c2 (The board they did the testing on was from an OzModChips Wii). Instead of supplying a DOA warranty, or a 1 month warranty, or 1 year warranty - the warranty is lifetime from us. As long as we are in operation, we will replace any defective stock. Impressive huh?
The main advantage that D2Pro has over D2Ckey is the lower wire count and the upgradability function. The wire count has gone from 31 wires down to only 15 wires (and additional 4 wires are required if you want region free gaming), and now down to only 9. The upgradability feature may not be needed for a while, but upgradability is more for piece of mind that if Nintendo bring out new formats (like dual layer on SSBB) or try to block the modchip from running, all you need to do is flash your modchip to a newer firmware.
The D2pro has recently been updated to be a 9 wire d2c modchip. However, because you can update the modchip via the D2prog, you can convert it back to a 15/19 wire modchip if need be. The current models shipping have the 9 wire firmware on them and ready to use, so there is no need to buy a programmer
Here is a short explanation of the differences between the 2 firmware versions
| |
Wires |
Works by: |
Update method |
| D2pro 9 wire |

Attacking the serial port |
SPI can be updated via DVD.
D2prog can be used to update both Actel IC, and SPI if needed

JTAG (needs D2prog) |
Why choose the D2pro over the other D2C modchips?
When compared to the D2Ckey it is better in the sense of a lower wire count and upgradability. How about the Argon? Well the slogan of the D2Pro is "No Nonsense". We are thinking this is a crack at the Infectus team for releasing an extremely buggy modchip on the market. It is true that Argon has been upgraded 4 or so times n the space of a month...but it is not getting updated for better features - it is being updated to do what it should have done on release. Advertised features never worked, and installers where stranded with no programmer to update their modchip. Its part of the reason why this modchip will absolutely take off. Customers want stability, Installers want happy customers, and resellers want to sell something that does everything the spec list says!
