The M3 DS Simply has the name becuase it is so damn simlpe to use. There is no patching of ROMs, so you just drag and drop them onto the microSD card and they work. In a recent survey of the top 20 reviews for DS flash cards, 90% of them said that M3/R4 have revolutionized the way YOU play your DS or DS Lite, they are the trend setters. Rock solid hardware, great software, at the most affordable price.
Many people ask, what's the difference between the R4 and the M3? Well, not much. They are made in the same factory, so the hardware is the same. The software is 99% the same, it just really looks a bit different. The teams share their discoveries, so firmware updates contain the same new features. For some reason, the R4 team bring out their firmware updates about 2 weeks before M3 does. Not a biggy. Take either one, there really is no reason for anyone to 'need' one over the other.
Let's face it, out of the box, your DS doesn't do too much. A DS + M3DS + MicroSD card changes that completely.
Most people will use their M3DS to:
Play backup games (ROMs)
It is as simple as dragging and dropping ROMs from your computer onto the microSD card, putting the microSD card into your M3DS, and then putting the M3DS into your DS. That's it! Please make sure you legally own the game you are putting on your M3DS, and that it is legal in your country to play backups.
Use Homebrew
Homebrew is any bit of software that someone writes for a console that doesn't go through the official channels for approval and distribution, i.e. anyone can do it! The most popular homebrew applications are:
- DSOrganize - an organizer application which includes a PDA, file browser, web browser, IRC client, text editor, calculator and more!
- MoonShell – allows you to play Mp3s, view images, text files and watch movies!
- Messenger Apps – IRC, AIM, MSN – you can now use it on your DS!
- VoIP – Use your DS as a phone!
- Emulators – SNES, NES, ScummVM, NeoGeo, GameBoy etc.
The M3DS is known for its rock solid reliability and bargain price. Every bit of electronic equipment has a failure rate, but the M3/R4 is by far the most reliable flash card we have ever sold on this website.
