M3 are the veterans of the DS flash card world. They are a pretty relaxed team that never rush their hardware to market, leading to reliable hardware with great software. They have been there since the start, and continue to support their products long after they are made. Their product the 'M3 Real' for the DS/DSLite got off to a slow start when it was released in 2007, but it has slowly become the highest selling high capacity card we have ever sold. We where pretty surprised when the Acekard team brought out the Acekard 2i so early (before DSi was even out here in Australia). We emailed M3 and asked them if they would port over the M3 Real to the DSi, just like acekard did for acekard 2.1. They said their where a bunch of issues they saw with the acekard solution, and said their DSi solution would be available when they had a proper solution....so here it is!
The M3i Zero is just like most other DS Flash cards. In fact its features are almost 1:1 of the M3 real. It plays homebrew, loads cheats for games, and plays MP3s from inside the menu system. The M3 Sakura system makes it easy for anyone to navigate. The M3i Zero also has the RTS (Real Time Save) system, which allow you to save your games at any time! The biggest selling point of the M3i Zero is that it is 100% upgradable. There are 2 types of upgradablity, one type is software on the micro sd card which every card can upgrade. The other is the actual firmware on the flash card itself. Why would you ever need to upgrade this you say? The DSi is actually firmware upgradable product, which technically means that Nintendo can try and block these devices from running with a software update. Here are a list of current devices out there for the DSi
- DSTTi -- Not 100% upgradable
- Ezfalsh Vi -- Not 100% upgradable
- Itouch2 DSi-- Not 100% upgradable
- R4i DS -- Not 100% upgradable
- Acekard 2i-- The software chip inside the Acekard can be partially updated, but you will need another DS for this
- Supercard DSi -- 100% upgradable, but a hard to use and slow interface
- M3i Zero --> 100% upgradable, easy to use
Nintendo has already updated the DSi software in 2009, the 1.4 update, that blocked every single DSi flash card from working. However, the M3 came up with an update of it own that takes about 20 seconds! Too easy. Other cards, like the R4i are not upgradable....they just made new cards that works on the new software, but of course if Nintendo brings out another update, people will be forced to buy another card, for the 3rd time! Why not just buy the M3i Zero? 1 card that will last forever, do it right the first time!

We definitely recommend the M3i Zero for the DSi over any current solution for the DSi. The M3i Zero is also backward compatible, working with the original Ds and DS Lite, so even if you don't have a DSi yet its still a good buy. The M3i Zero will be the most popular DSi flash card, there is no doubt it will overtake its competitors as its the only card that is 100% upgradable, and has a feature filled and easy to use interface.
