The 360 has an BenQ drive, which has been hacked/modded/flashed with custom firmware. The firmware will allow you to play 360 games on burnt media. You should never play games you do not legally own - the hacked firmware should only be used to save the original discs for being scratched.

Right now (28/02/2008) the firmware is undetectable, so you can still play online on xbox Live. However, Microsoft can detect actions you perform on your console, like playing games before they come out, or copies of games that are not exact 100% 1 for 1 copies. OzModChips has no warranty at all on users getting banned from xbox Live.
