The R4 DS (R4DS) stands for Revolution for DS, and its 100% true. The R4 DS (R4DS) was the most popular DS flash card for a very very long time. Late 2007 and early 2008 R4DS was flying out the door and we would always find ourselves out of stock. It is still popular, but lascks some extra features other cads have. It seems as the R4 team is content with their card, and their position in the market, so there have been no changes and improved features for a while.

Let's face it, out of the box, your DS doesn't do too much. A DS + R4DS + MicroSD card changes that completely.

Most people will use their R4 to:

Play backup games (ROMs)
It is as simple as dragging and dropping ROMs from your computer onto the microSD card, putting the microSD card into your R4DS, and then putting the R4 into your DS. That's it! Please make sure you legally own the game you are putting on your R4, and that it is legal in your country to play backups.

Use Homebrew
Homebrew is any bit of software that someone writes for a console that doesn't go through the official channels for approval and distribution, i.e. anyone can do it! The most popular homebrew applications are:

DSOrganize - an organizer application which includes a PDA, file browser, web browser, IRC client, text editor, calculator and more!
MoonShell – allows you to play Mp3s, view images, text files and watch movies!
Messenger Apps – IRC, AIM, MSN – you can now use it on your DS!
VoIP – Use your DS as a phone!
Emulators – SNES, NES, ScummVM, NeoGeo, GameBoy etc.

The R4 DS (R4DS) is known for its rock solid reliability. Every bit of electronic equipment has a failure rate, but the R4 is by far the most reliable flash card we have ever sold on this website. The R4DS team is no longer around, so please don't expect anymore software updates. Original R4s are no longer being made, so we have to supply our customers with 3rd party R4s made in a similar factory. They use the same mold, same parts, same software - i.e they are still R4s.

Q: Is the R4 Compatible with the Rumble Pack or Opera Ram Expansion?
A: Yes

Q: Will you support DS Homebrew Roms?
A: Yes

Q: What is the Battery Life?
A: Same as the Original carts, the R4 core components are chosen to maximize battery life.

Q: What about reading Speeds from the DS? Are they Equal to an original cart?
A: Original carts have various speeds, our hardware is designed to match the speed as close as possible. No problems to this date.

Q: Does Drag and Drop functionality work on a Mac and other Operating systems except Windows?
A: Of course Our device is fully mass storage spec compliant, and should work with any operating system which supports this standard

Q: Do I have to use patches and extra software to load files on the NDS?
A: Absolutely not.

Q: Will I need any other extra software or hardware to manage the R4?
A: Absolutely not.

Q: What colors are available from the R4 Adapter?
A: We are currently manufacturing White cart for first batch stock, we might consider other colors soon.

Q: Do I have to flash my DS firmware in order to operate the R4?
A: Nope! No firmware hacks or any nasty tricks are required to use the R4. If you change your firmware you lose your warranty!

Q: What languages does the R4 OS support?
A: English, Chinese and Japaness at present.

Q: Does it work on both DS and DS Lite?
A: Yes, every revision out and to come

Q: Are there any regional issues?
A: No, R4 works on every DS and DS Lite from around the world.

Q: How many files can I have on the R4?
A: R4 Adapter supports 128MB~4GB TF(MicroSD) card , 4GB=32Gbit. TRANSFLASH = NON HIGH CAPACITY. THIS PRODUCT WILL NOT WORK WITH 4GB + MICROSD-HC CARDS

Q: Do I need a pass key device for the R4 to work or can I just put it in my DS?
A: Nothing is needed! Just place the R4 with the TF card into the NDS slot 1 and power-up your DS .
