The R4 DS (R4DS) stands for Revolution for DS, and its 100% true. The R4 DS (R4DS) was the most popular DS flash card for a very very long time. Late 2007 and early 2008 R4DS was flying out the door and we would always find ourselves out of stock. It was the first DS flash card that was truly popular. Due to a bunch of legal battles, the original team ended up dissolving mid 2008.
Since then, a couple of other factories took over production of te R4DS, but no one was working on the software support. During the months that followed, other factories started to make R4s, but improved on their features (greater homebrew compatibility, and support for larger micro SD cards). It got a bit out of control, as there are now about 50+ types of r4s. (New R4 , R4-III, N5, ND1, Nplayer, R4 Advance, R4 Deluxe, etc etc...bassically the name r4, with any random name on the end.
Its easy for us to buy any of them to sell, but we are only interested in stocking the best that there is. The reason why we have chosen the R4 DSN SDHC is becuase it is compatible with WOOD firmware. WOOD firmware is based off Acekard firmware, and is developed by a coder by the name of YWG. From 2010 onward he has been updating the software almost once a month.
Do we still reccomend the R4? To be honest, not really...The software is based of the AceKard, so why not just get the AceKard instead?. Many people still feel like they need the R4DS since a lot of their friends have it, so we still supply it. However the R4 we are selling at the moment is truely the best of all the r4s on the market, and since it has the name "R4" attached to it, its slightly cheaper then cards like the acekard.
Most people will use their R4 to:
