To check your firmware version on the DSi or 3DS. Please click the settings button on the main menu. In the settings, the firmware version will be displayed on the top screen, in the bottom right hand corner. The number on the end (a, e etc) doesn't matter, that just represents what region you are from.

The update method of the R4i is to run an NDS update file on the device. This means you will need to run it on a Ds lite (since the device can never be blocked on that) or a Dsi or 3DS that has NOT been updated yet. You cannot run the update file on a console that has already been updated, becuase of course, the card is blocked from booting up in the first place.

Q. Do I need anything else?
A. Yes, you need a micro sd card, its the device that stores the information. Thats why we sell it in combos! Please only buy this product on its own if you already have a micro sd card to use. We have 2, 4, 8, and 16gb combos available!
Q. Is this the best R4 card available?
A. Some people call flash cards 'R4 cards'. Its not the very very best flash card, we think the supercard is. But the Supercard has a lot of features that customers do not use. The R4 we sell is the best R4 card on the market. The software updates from 'WOOD' are fantastic, and the hardware is THE BEST out of any card on our website. How many units have we have faulty since we changed to this card in July 2011? Zero. So we have no problems reccomending this card as the best basic card on our website. Better then the acekard? Software and hardware wise, at the moment, yes.
