From 4/11/2008 onwards all Wiikey v2s purchased from this page will ship with a yellow Serial number on the back. This means that the firmware on the wiikey is the new firmware that has stable 6 wire code for d2c/d2c2 and d2e. We have been helping Wiikey team with their beta testing over the last couple of weeks, and this modchip is great.

What is the Wiikey V2?
The Wiikey V2, is yet another modchip from the same team we love...that coded the wiikey/d2ckey/d2pro/d2pro9. It works on every wii on the market. It was produced with stability in mind as there is a gap in the market currently. People want the d2pro, but some people are slightly frustrated with the amount of small tiny bugs the modchip has, the its fairly large price. As of 4/11/08 0 it is also the only modchip to have stable 6 wire firmware for d2c/d2c2/d2e wiis. This means that installation is as easy as soldering 6 wires to solder pads (no solder required on the legs of the IC)
Another modchip? what for? I thought d2pro did it all?
So did we! So much so that when d2pro emailed us about it, we really couldn't understand why anyone would go for this. Yes, its cheaper to produce - but d2pro is insanely popular and it would take a detailed feature list to knock d2pro off its pedastole.
Their aim is not to knock the d2pro off, its merely an alternative modchip that people can choose without having to buy an inferior modchip from an inferior team. The 'Actel' IC that was used on the d2pro ended up causing more issues than it solved. It has now been replaced with a 'Lattice' chip, which from our tests, kicks ass.
Ozmodchips testing
We have been testing wiikey non stop. We have put the wiikey v2in every single drive and are yet to fault it. The 6 wire firmware is amazing to us. Only 1 year ago when the first D2C modhcip came out by the same team (d2ckey) it took a massive 31 wires to do what they can not do with 6 wires.
The modchip comes with an unbuilt update blocker, which means its impossible to brick your wii from an international game like before.
Whats the catch?
No catch. It works fine with no bugs, and will be supported.
Wiikey V2 or D2pro - what should i go for!
Its up to you really. D2pro can be known as a 'high end' modchip because of its JTAG upgradability, which means 100% of the modchip can be changed. The part of the modchip on wiikey v2 that you cannot change is the IC in the middle that controlls how the modchip works (how code is injected etc). So in reality, it should never need to be changed anyway.... The part that is 100% upgradable on the modchip is the 'SPI' that controls the game authentication, which is the only thing Nintendo could ever change.
